Riverside, CA- Complete Coach Works announced the
completion of a 10 bus remanufacturing contract for Laidlaw Transit Services
Inc. The contract consisted of the complete remanufacturing of 10 Gillig high
floor buses including a repower to a Cummins ISC 8.3 liter engine, a
Particulate Trap to lower particulate emissions, as well as a complete
retrofit of the bus wiring system with an upgrade to the I/O Controls
multiplexing system.
“After 12 or more years of service the bus wiring in any transit bus is worn
out and the older relay technology has been significantly improved on with
today’s modern PLC multiplexing technology,” stated Rick Hittinger, Area
Manager for Laidlaw Transit Services. “Getting rid of old wiring, and
minimizing the use of relays provides a more stable, trouble free system that
also provides great flexibility for system integration and ease of
diagnostics.”
During the remanufacturing process the buses were stripped to their bare
frame, inspected for structural integrity and then carefully remanufactured to
a like new condition.
Fully upholstered seats, with plush new fabric combined with modern transit
safety flooring, electronic LED destination signs and new Lift-U wheelchair
lifts combined to give the coaches the look feel and functionality of a new
bus.
“We appreciate the trust and confidence that Laidlaw Transit Services and
their client, Imperial County, placed in us”, stated Macy Neshati, Vice
President of Complete Coach Works, “these buses will provide years of
