CCW Receives SF Muni A/C Retrofit Contract

Riverside, CA -Complete Coach Works announced today that they have received a new contract to retrofit up to 160 roof top Air Conditioning units for San Francisco Muni.

The work includes a complete redesign of the original unit and replaces the heavy and vibration prone reciprocating A/C compressor with a new hermitically sealed scroll type air compressor unit which delivers quite, vibration free performance.

The contract marks the third such contract from SF Muni starting with a 50 unit award in 2005, which included a proof of concept prototype, performance testing, and parts and service manual development. The units were so successful in reducing vibration and the leaks that result from excess movement, as well as quieter and more dependable operation, that a second contract for 100 units was awarded and completed in 2006.

This third contract will complete a retrofit of the entire Breda street car fleet and will provide SF Muni a uniform fleet with common parts, as well as consistent trouble shooting and repair practices.
