Successful Retrofit from CCW supplies PG&E with Natural Gas Powered Utility Trucks
Riverside, CA. – Complete Coach Works is proud to announce the successful retrofit of a new Cummins Westport Inc. ISL G engine into Northern Califonria's Pacific Gas & Electric Comapny Freightliner truck.
Known as one of the innovators and leaders in Alternative Fuel/Hybrid Conversions in the transportation industry, PG&E initiated the project to expolore the feasibility of an installation of the new cummins ISL G engine into Freightliner's M2 truck chassis. Complete Coach Works was selected as a result of their industry leading track record of innovative approaches to the retrofit and repower of alternative fueled power trains in new applications.
Recently, the truck powered by its new Compressed Natrual Gas (CNG) engine was on display and received great interest at the Clean and Heavy Duty Vehicle Converence 2008: Technologies and Fuels for a Low Carbon World in San Diego, CA The Cummins ISL G engine is rated at 300 horsepower with 900 foot-pounds of torque and meets 2010 EPA and CARB emissions level ratings. Complete Coach Works retofitted the truck to operate on CNG however it is also capable of burning other various alternative fuel sources such as Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), biomethane fuel (renewable upgraded natural gas from biogas) and upgraded landfill gas.
"Taking on this challenge and succeeding in fitting a 8.9 liter Cummins engine into Frieghtliners M2 chassis was a simple matter of ingenuity, and creativity.
