San Luis Obispo Transit becomes California Central Valley's largest Hybrid FleetRiverside, CA. – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is proud to announce receiving the contract award to complete 3 additional Hybrid Buses for San Luis Obispo, CA. The first SLO hybrid bus was delivered and introduced in March 2007 by Complete Coach Works. Since its inception the bus has accumulated over 40,000 miles and is a favorite amoung the drivers and riding public alike. The new awarded contract includes full refurbishment of three 1994 Gillig Phantoms as well as a conversion to a Gasoline Hybrid Electric drive system bringing the total number of hybrid buses in the San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority Fleet to four. The buses will also feature the new 200 KW drive system from ISE making San Luis Obispo a leader in the California central vally with the largest Hybrid fleet demonstrating their serious commitment to clean air transportation. Bates, Interim Regional Transit Manager stated: "The San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority (SLORTA) is committed to improving air quality and reducing enviromental problems within San Luis Obispo County. In an effort to accomplish our commitment, SLORTA will continue on the path of procuring vehicles that have clean air drive train components, such as the Gasoline Electric Hybrid vehicles currently in production. Once delivered, these vehicles will provide service for the citizens of San luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties."
